Rapid-firing homing bees, puke-inducing stinkmucks and enemy-binding spiders are just some of the different creatures used as weapons. The clever bit? Everything you fire out of the crossbow is alive. To do this, he relies on a trusty crossbow capable of firing a range of ammo types. Stranger is a bounty hunter, and almost all of the enemies he comes across in his quest to raise mo’ Moolah (money) can be taken dead or alive, with the latter option churning out more cash. While it retains some elements of past games in its light platforming segments, Wrath sets itself apart with a shooting system unlike anything seen in games before. Wrath is the first game to deviate from Abe Mudoken’s path, and the most varied interpretation of the universe seen since the original Abe’s Odyssey back on PlayStation. The Oddworld universe is a strange and fantastical place a true fantasy setting that never falls back on the old archetypes of Elder Scrolls, injected with a black sense of humour and a strong environmental message within each of its four games. Placed firmly in the boots of the titular Stranger, Wrath quickly establishes its own identity in terms of setting and mechanics. Originally landing on the first Xbox back in 2005, it famously undersold, making this update more of a necessity than a luxury. Of course, as the HD in Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath HD suggests, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen this FPS/platforming mash up. What better way to bookend 2011, then, than with a game that completely bucks that trend. Metacritic’s user score suggests that even the mighty Call of Duty can no longer hide behind the hand-holding single player offerings it’s been serving up for the past few years. It’s been a difficult year for shooters, one of short campaigns, tight corridors and overly-scripted sequences. Use this whenever you're expecting to be ambushed, such as being inside of a fortress or a very enemy-laden area. And now for something completely different… The Thudslugs are used as basic ammunition that will deal a decent amount of damage whilst repelling the enemy that you have targeted. Thudslugs The Thudslugs are very peculiar ammunition, mostly in part because you cannot say their name five times fast. While the enemies are regurgitating, you can sneak up on them and bounty them up! That's some chunk-blowing action, right there. Stunkz The Stunkz are very worthy of your time as a valuable source of ammunition due to the fact that you can immobilize several enemies at once with a single shot. Even so, these things are still very useful in gun fights due to the fact that they're rapid-fire, and you can hold around 487 of them from scratch. You will find them to be fairly useful, as they do target enemies, but they do moderately poor damage. Stingbees The Stingbees are known as the homing missile ammunition, and they are the last of the ammo types that you will find in the game, although they still come fairly early. As the in-game description calls it, the Fuzzles are like landmines. The best way to pull this off is to do exactly as the opening movie sequence -place some Fuzzles in an area and lure the bad guy to the little critters, and watch them do some damage. You can use the Fuzzles in one of two different ways, or a combination of both for certain tough enemies. Use this in groups of bad guys, as well, to slowly pick the team apart and overcome significant odds.įuzzles The Fuzzles are very useful enemies that will give you a lot of breathing room, thankfully. The range is very limited on the Chippunk use, but the effect is well used, as long as it's well placed. If your foe is somewhere that you'd rather he not be, just use a Chippunk where he will see it to bait him elsewhere. Think of it as a mini-grenade launcher, right in the palm of your hands.Ĭhippunks Using a Chippunk, you will be able to lure enemies to a specific area of the playing field. One Boombat will take out an entire region of enemies, wherever you decide to throw it at. Suck them in for the bounty pretty much immediately afterwards.īoombats These bad boys are the top-est of notch-mania when it comes to blowing up a ton of enemies all at once. You must shoot them at the specific enemy to get them tangled in the web of deception! The Bolamites do not last forever, we're afraid, so make sure that you're at least somewhat close to your foe once you've wrapped them up. Bolamites These frisky little guys will create spider webs to trap your enemies.
